In an AUGI thread, http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=100029, someone suggested the idea of of the following:

"I have noted that the REVIT.ini file contains URLs for Publish to Seek as well as to search Seek. I'm actually excited by this, as presumably I could hi-jack these links and direct my users to a company intranet site or similar. All I need to know now is what information is transferred to Seek for the publish tool. I think that allowing Revit users the opportunity to publish their own 'self-proclaimed' good content to an internal quarantine zone would be excellent."

Below is the cut from the Revit.ini file:

[ContentSearch]
Site=http://seek.autodesk.com
PublishURL=http://revitseekstore.autodesk.com

I asked the following:

Is the above possible? Also could someone use the capabilities of a free product like the BIMHighway at www.digitalbuildingsolutions.com to create your own intranet type internal "Seek" site?

Is it possible with your software?

Kevin

The end of this thread, http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=82833&page=2, also talks about this but the whole thread is good and does mention your product on the first page.

Just to let you know, when I am not logged in to the forums I can not see the BIMHighway forum only the Shortcut Highway one. When I log in then I see both. I use to see both either way, it seemed.

Whilst in beta, we are restricting access to registered users only. To limit confusion I have restricted SH from public view as well.

To manage local content, one would either require a browser based server solution (not trivial, requires set up and configuration of an in-house web server) or a desktop client based solution. We've gone the desktop client route. i.e. BIMHighway provides a free desktop client for managing local intranet content. The BIMHighway desktop client can be used in a multi-user environment, as multiple users can simultaneously open/share a library.

Your products can be published - via distributable content packages - to your BIMHighway web account, which we will host. You will be able to decide whether to make your products private or public.

But managing local/online content is only part of the equation, - estimating and linking project types to Manufacturer's building products also needs to be factored in.

Our intention is to provide "real-time" cost estimation of Revit projects.
